Friends! Each week I put out three ideas (NOT recommendations!) and then discuss them on the podcast. Let’s get into it!
The NY Times once published an article saying it would take 1-10 million years for humans to create a flying machine. Eight days later the Wright brothers had their first successful flight.
My point? Humans are bad at predicting the rate of progress. And if you’ve been looking at the Dalle-2 and GPT-3 stuff going on lately, you might be making the same mistake in one way or another. “Oh, this is too far away from being real.”
It might be! But it might not. Based on what I know about content creation, I think what’s going on is a sign that a very large part of the economy is about to being AI-driven faster than people realize. I think in 5-10 years the world will look radically different. We may not be able to stop the coming flesh-bag apocalypse, but I want to profit from it.
Idea #1 - Buy $AI
Buy highly speculative stock $AI - which I like the direction of. And wait. They burn more but have big customers in Shell and others https://c3.ai/
Revenue is growing and they’re investing in R&D. Looks fine for a gamble.
I could also buy a safe-er bet... $IBM, which has acquired many AI businesses and is a leader. A defensive play with a long-term AI upside inside of it that no one cares about.
Idea #2 - Short $CVX
Biden is looking to release strategic reserves, there’s talk of oil-specific taxes. Midterms mean he will be unreasonable. Plus the most notable indicator: I recently bought a bunch of energy stocks for the podcast portfolio. The party is over folks! Short-term trade.
Idea #3 - Short $TPH
Mortgage rates go up. More housing supply. Builders suffer. Chart looks scary. Let’s ride it down.
